Elite Athletes

Here are 7 of 10 Markers of Fitness:

  1. Speed
  2. Agility
  3. Power
  4. Coordination
  5. Balance
  6. Flexibility
  7. Strength

Skating takes a ton of all these . Forget to train one and bye bye in 10 years. We use clever ways to keep levels up.

Most skaters think that when young, they felt all this. At that age we weren’t half as Coordinated as a trained athlete. Same goes for Flexibility, Balance, Strength.. As kids we were more flexible than the average adult, but children often have tight hips from sitting all day. Age doesn’t work the way we think.

Things like power might leave us over time. We can gain these back quickly with the right tools.

Children have something not on the list, spontaneity. Old skaters also lose the freedom of spontaneity, and how to train for that is up to you. These 7 are physical markers because skating runs off physical prowess.
